The sector accounts for 8% of national plant production and includes over 19,000 businesses across 45,000 cultivated hectares.<\/p>\n<p>The leading regions are <strong>Tuscany<\/strong>, <strong>Liguria<\/strong>, and <strong>Sicily<\/strong> (\u20ac313 million). All regions have recorded production increases, with Central Italy leading the way, followed closely by the North and then by the South.<\/p>\n<p>On the international front, exports reached \u20ac1.62 billion (+6.3%), with 70% of production destined abroad, mainly within the EU. Italy is the world\u2019s third-largest exporter by value, with a positive trade balance despite rising imports (\u20ac888 million, +30%).
