In 2024, the Italian floriculture and nursery sector reached a new production record with a value of €3.25 billion, marking a 3.5% increase compared to 2023 and 31% over ten years. The sector accounts for 8% of national plant production and includes over 19,000 businesses across 45,000 cultivated hectares.

The leading regions are Tuscany, Liguria, and Sicily (€313 million). All regions have recorded production increases, with Central Italy leading the way, followed closely by the North and then by the South.

On the international front, exports reached €1.62 billion (+6.3%), with 70% of production destined abroad, mainly within the EU. Italy is the world’s third-largest exporter by value, with a positive trade balance despite rising imports (€888 million, +30%). The sector continues to stand out as a flagship of Made in Italy.
