The plantation of the first tree of the ‘Bosco di Myplant’ (Myplant’s forest) project has taken place in Milan. The International Green Expo takes part in the dream of a greener Milan within the project of urban forestation ForestaMI, promoted by the City of Milan. By 2030 the city and its metropolitan area will plant 3 million trees, according to the ForestaMI programme.
The plantation of the first tree of the ‘Bosco di Myplant’ is the first step towards the creation of a new forest in the city, which will start next Spring with the plantation of the first 200 trees.
The ‘Bosco di Myplant’ will be planted within the velodrome area in the Parco Nord Milano. Its creation will be possible thanks to the contribution of companies that will participate during the next edition of Myplant & Garden (26-28 February 2020, Fiera Milano Rho). Once mature, the woodland will absorb around 50,000kg of CO2, equal to the amount of emissions generated annually by 7 Italian citizens, to 315.000km traveled by car (7 laps around the earth), and to the life cycle of 100.000 water bottles.
The project will involve the local horticulture industry with tree species native of the region coming from local nurseries: plain woodland formations, Quercus robur, Quercus cerris, Quercus petrae, other broad-leaved trees such as Acer, Carpinus betulus, Prunus avium, and shrubs.
